Queer i
iKickback started with a deep respect for women, and the acknowledgement that it is feminine power that will eventually restore the global energy balance. Since our inception, we’ve recognized the need to share these life-giving skills with a wider audience, inspiring the evolution of iKickback: iKickback for the Queer i.
How two people loving one another could threaten anyone else is beyond us! In fact, we think the right to love should be equal to the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Like violence against women, we wish our friends in the gay community were not frequent targets of those less enlightened amongst us. So until the day that prejudice is history, we’re committed to sharing the life-saving skills, tools and knowledge to help our gay friends live with confidence.
The techniques that make up the Queer i program are essentially the same easy to learn, effective and accessible skills we teach through our regular program. We recognize however, that some of the circumstances under which a gay man may be forced to defend himself may be different than a heterosexual woman. While no two situations are identical, overall we believe it is safe to generalize that most attacks against women are driven by sexual intention, anger and the need to dominate. While these same driving factors may be at play when one gay man attacks another, more often than not, it is a heterosexual man that attacks a gay man out of fear, prejudice and reproach. These different intentions present both additional threats that must be addressed and increased opportunity to deescalate and escape the situation.
